  1. The 5 point tyre model for ACC

This is too big not to write a few words about. Or better said, I _hope_ it is as big as it sounds . From the get go, I should say that I'm surprised to find out that AC/ACC are actually using a single point contact for physics calculations. True, I did not look a long time at this, but I think Scawen was talking about it from 2010. So in my little mind, all the sims that came after that, definitely had to be using more than one contact point, right ? Wrong.

  2. ACC 1.0 - Ready to Launch, May 29th.

Less than 24h left and we'll all get to see Assetto Corsa Competizione being 'freed' into the wild, as a stand-alone 1.0 title. Support will not stop after that, but tomorrow is a very important day for Kunos, since it will mark another milestone in the small(still ?) studio's life.
One of the most anticipated and discussed features of v1.0 was the 'matchmaking'. The relatively loose interpretation/understanding of what this actually means, led to a lot of complaints/disappointment on the official forum. And since the general understanding risked to..
  3. ACC Early Access - Release 6. not yet.

The last milestone on the roadmap presented and unofficially committed to last year, was Release 6. It was scheduled to be released on February 13th. However, and even if Kunos managed to keep the previous 5, it seems that 13th meant bad luck (even though in Italy that would be. 17th ?) and they could not make it. Initially announced as a 1-week delay, with this announcement:

    'Dear ACC forum community,
we apologize for the delay that this news had about the forum post, but all the team is..
  4. Simucube Quick Release system for DD wheels

Over at Granite Devices, the guys behind the Simucube OSW, exciting stuff is going on. After announcing a wireless button adapter a while back, today we find out about a new Quick Release system for Direct Drive wheels. Any owner knows that a good QR is not something to ignore, because any play into the mechanism will add unwanted noise in the FFB. Now, there are of course good QR out there but there's only one problem: the price ! They cost basically almost as much as an entry level FFB wheel. Hopefully, Simucube team..
